Communities of Practice
Samples and collections are embedded into specific user communities and organisations. The ability to provide metadata may vary considerably between communities. IGSN e.V. liaises with IGSN user communities worldwide through Communities of Practice to develop and standardise best practices for the identification and description of physical samples on the web and in scholarly publications and guidelines on how the DataCite Metadata Schema can be used to describe material samples.
This community is for and supports those managing collections of research samples or specimens.
SESAR is a community platform that helps make samples more discoverable, accessible, and reusable, and connects samples with the knowledge ecosystem derived from them.
A forum for the community supporting physical samples in the earth, space, and environmental sciences, which includes but is not limited to geological and biological samples.
A forum for the community supporting the development of best practices for using IGSN in archaeology.
